Xbox Adds Deep Pink Controller To Its Growing Gamepad Lineup

Deep Pink Xbox wireless controller.

Xbox’s newest controller variant is Deep Pink, and judging from current product images, it’s looking to live up to its very literal name.

Microsoft never seems comfortable resting on its laurels when it comes to the current library of peripherals available for its Xbox Series X|S consoles. Honestly, I respect the restlessness, because it results in gamers getting a steady flow of unique hardware choices.

The collection’s status is constantly being updated with fresh additions, like the eye-catching Forza Horizon 5 limited edition, which I reviewed late last year (sold out as of this writing), and the brilliantly blue Aqua Shift special edition gamepad that released not too long ago.

The recently announced Deep Pink controller falls right in line with the rest of its rainbowed brethren, in that you’d be hard-pressed to ignore its striking combination of brilliant hues — in this case an overwhelming aesthetic swimming with rich pinks and blacks. It calls to mind a striking spring tulip, only it’s a flower made of plastic and PCB that you can use to make the dwindling most of Halo Infinite’s questionable second season.

The device, which is available now, retails for $64.99. A price, mind you, that makes it slightly more expensive than your average Xbox Series X|S wireless controller, if only by $5. Not as expensive as some of the more limited releases like the 20th Anniversary controller though, which will set you back $70.

Beyond the eponymous deep pink color, this is pretty much your standard Xbox wireless gamepad, complete with a share button, hybrid d-pad and some handy textured grip. Nothing like the rubberized luxury found on the Forza Horizon 5 controller, however. As always, you can pair this thing with just about any device that supports Bluetooth technology. Go ahead and play Doom on your smart fridge. You know you want to.

Sure, you could always hop over to the Xbox Design Lab and create your own masterpiece, but these special one-offs that Microsoft keeps putting out always catch my attention. The real battle is convincing myself that I don’t need yet another Xbox controller.

Ah, consumerism at its finest.
