Scuf announces three new high-performance controllers, SCUF Reflex, Reflex Pro, and Reflex FPS, all specially designed for the PS5.

Custom controller manufacturer Scuf Gaming has opened sales for high-performance SCUF Reflex controllers specially designed for PS5 hardware. Scuf Gaming's history with the PlayStation brand dates back several years, with the company even creating high-performance controllers for DualShock gamepads during the PS3 era.

PS4 players in the market for higher-end DualShock 4 controllers also needed to look no further than Scuf for quality products. Scuf's custom gamepads remain better known for their myriad features, which range from remappable paddles and rear buttons to interchangeable sticks and adjustable triggers. While well-made accessories such as the Xbox Elite controller showcase Microsoft's interest in further expanding upon its first-party controller offerings, Sony's efforts in this regard seem lackluster by comparison. Last year's release of a PlayStation-branded back button attachment for DualShock 4 suggests the Japanese electronics giant may explore its options in the future, though.

Today, December 7, Scuf Gaming unveiled the SCUF Reflex, Reflex Pro, and Reflex FPS controllers priced at $199.99, $229.99, and $259.99, respectively. Each one is compatible with PS5 and Windows 7+ platforms and currently available to purchase through the official Scuf storefront, the company announced. The Reflex and Reflex Pro models come packed with DualSense's adaptive triggers. Reflex FPS, created with first-person shooters in mind, removes adaptive triggers and haptics to deliver a lightweight controller that emphasizes instant bumpers and instant triggers with a one-tap motion mimicking mouse clicks. All three include four remappable rear paddles, enabling up to 12 configurable functions, removable faceplates, interchangeable thumbsticks, improved thumbstick design, and a Profile Switch that allows players to save three different remapping configurations at a time.

As far as custom PS5 controllers are concerned, Scuf's new Reflex models will likely catch the eye of many a player, especially those looking to up their game competitively. And since this counts as the only high-performance custom controller available for Sony's newest console, Scuf is filling a need that hasn't been met elsewhere as of yet.

Sony may remain silent on the custom controller front, but the console manufacturer has somewhat satiated desires on the DualSense color variant front. Over the summer, two new controller colors joined the DualSense family - Cosmic Red and Midnight Black. Hopes remain high that even more variants will soon see the light of day; however, the ongoing PS5 stock shortage suggests the wait for new details on this front could last for quite a while longer.
