Apex Legends Mobile has arrived on Android and iOS. Here’s everything you need to know about the game’s controller support.

Apex Legends Mobile is finally here, but some players still prefer to use a trusty controller over the touchscreen controls. Here’s everything we know about Apex Legends Mobile’s controller support.

After months of playtests, Apex Legends Mobile was finally released on Android and iOS on May 17, 2022. It features many of the same Legends and weapons as the main game, as well as the mobile-exclusive Fade, all on your mobile phone or tablet.

But even with its fully-fledged touchscreen controls, some players prefer having a controller in their hands when playing first-person shooters. Here’s everything we know about Apex Legends Mobile’s controller support.

Apex Legends Mobile does not have controller support at launch but the devs have confirmed that it’s on the way.

Speaking at a press event ahead of Apex Mobile’s launch, the developers said they understand that many prefer to use a controller over the touchscreen controls. “It is super important for us, we understand usability issues, and how much fun it is,” explained one of the devs.

They confirmed that controller support is in the works for Apex Legends Mobile but unfortunately, it didn’t make it to the game for launch.

While there’s no concrete timeframe, Apex Legends Mobile’s developers confirmed that controller support should come in the “very near future.”

They explained that “We’re actively exploring [controller support] but haven’t quite got it right.” When exactly it will arrive is anyone’s guess, but it should be here before the end of 2022.

Apex Legends Mobile will not support Controllers at launch, but the developers are working on it. Controller support should come in the "very near future."

Although there is no official support for it, players can actually pair their Bluetooth controller with their phone and use it. The controllers that are compatible and can pair with your mobile device include the following:

Simply activate the pairing mode for the controller and find it on your mobile’s Bluetooth devices section. This will allow you to use the controller on Apex Mobile, but unfortunately, as there is no support for the feature, it can be buggy, especially when it comes to customizing your layout.

When controller support arrives, we’ll be breaking down how to use it and the best controller settings to dominate Apex Legends Mobile.

The Apex Legends developers have finally responded to the ‘Return to Battle’ glitch causing problems for players.

Respawn Entertainment have promised a fix for the strange ‘Return to Battle’ glitch that has been plaguing the Apex Legends community and ruining matches.

The Apex Legends developers introduced several changes to the popular battle royale title in the Season 13: Saviors update, including adjustments to stop players from taking advantage of out-of-bounds areas.

When players step into these areas on the map, they’ll get a message warning them to return to battle. However, these warnings have been popping up even when players are inside the map’s bounds, and Respawn have responded to this problem.

Reddit user ‘Blumerd’ shared a clip in the Apex Legends subreddit and it showed the player attempting to throw grenades at their opponents, only for the game to incorrectly register them as being out of bounds.

When this happens, several features are disabled to prevent players from abusing the out-of-bounds area, including Legend abilities, weapons, Ordinances, active Passives, and healing items.

As a result of the ‘Return to Battle’ glitch, the Redditor was unable to fight. They then wrote: “I feel like this is a bug on Olympus that should be fixed, right? It says ‘Return to battle’ when it shouldn’t, which makes me unable to throw grenades for example.”

This led to a response from the developers, as Respawn Game Designer ‘Jello’ reassured players in the thread that they were aware of the problem, and are currently working on a solution.

Jello stated: “There is a fix for this coming with the mid-season patch.” This will be reassuring to players that have been frustrated with the ‘Return to Battle’ glitch for interrupting their attacks and ruining matches.

Hopefully, the fix implemented in the mid-season update patch will resolve this issue once and for all. We’ll be sure to update you as soon as this update arrives and will keep you posted about any more developments regarding this glitch.

The C.A.R. SMG is an extremely powerful weapon in Apex Legends Season 13, and one of the devs has decided to comment on its strength.

An Apex Legends dev has provided the community with an insight into how Respawn deals with new weapons coming into the game, as well as hinting at a potential nerf for the C.A.R. SMG.

Apex Legends saw a variety of changes to the weapon and Legend meta when Season 13 launched. As well as bringing in a strong new Legend to shake up the most popular picks, Respawn also made some weapon changes.

Having said that, Season 13 did not bring a new weapon to the game. The latest weapon to be added to Apex Legends is the C.A.R. SMG, which is arguably the most dominant close-range weapon at the moment.

In response to the community’s concerns regarding the gun’s strength, one of the devs gave fans an insight into how they manage new weapons being added into the game, as well as a potential nerf for the C.A.R.

The C.A.R. was introduced in Season 11, and at the time of writing this article, it stands as one of the best close-range options in the game. This is mainly because of its high fire rate and great hip-fire accuracy, allowing players to stay on target.

It’s clear that the weapon is strong, and as its power was brought up on Reddit this week, Respawn’s Live Balance Designer Jay Biebs decided to respond and explain.

During a Weapon Wednesday discussion on the Apex Legends subreddit, users discussed the current state of the C.A.R. One user said, “Power creep’d SMG that’s for sure. They could’ve balanced it by giving it a worse total damage in a single mag or a lengthy reload time, but NOPE! Respawn definitely not playing their own game…”

In response, Jay Biebs gave a lengthy explanation about how they implement new weapons into the game, stating that “it makes sense to lean towards the strong side.”

Jay Biebs explains that this is because they feel “new legends/items have to be sexy and strong to disrupt the meta,” and making it strong means that more players will use it, giving the dev team more data to work with when it comes to tweaks and changes.

The dev team was surprised when “its usage rate was lower than [they] expected.” However, after time, players began to realize its strength and now it’s regarded as a “power creep’d SMG.”

The devs are aware of its strength, with Jay Biebs even agreeing “that the CAR overshadows [the R-99] in a few ways,” but he also sees the power creep issue as “never-ending.”

He does mention ways they could address the issue, which includes nerfing the C.A.R., but he doesn’t confirm anything:

“Buff R99? Nerf CAR? I’d say SMGs in general in Apex have been hit hardest by loot/TTK creep… do we revisit that? Do we revisit the class wholesale? Are we seen as pandering to controller players if we do so?”

We’ll have to wait and see what happens to the close-range meta in Apex Legends, as the mid-season update is on its way so perhaps we’ll see some changes.

Popular streamer NICKMERCS believes some changes are needed for Apex Legends’ ranked system in Season 13.

Nicholas Kolcheff, also known as ‘NICKMERCS’, has shared his opinion on the new Apex Legends ranked system in Season 13, stating that the devs need to “make changes.”

Since hopping over to Apex Legends from Warzone, NICKMECS has continued to get involved with the community and develop his skills in Respawn’s battle royale game.

NICKMERCS has been grinding the new ranked system in Apex Legends Season 13 and achieving high ranks. The community has been split about the ranked changes, with some pros praising it, while causal players seem to be suffering.

NICKMERCS has shared his opinion on the new ranked system, stating that it needs a change.

In a recent stream, NICKMERCS spoke about the state of Ranked Leagues in Apex Legends Season 13. The streamer has been enjoying the new ranked system in Apex Legends, stating that the grind and tough games against those who are better is “what ranked mode is all about.”

In response to those complaining about the new system being too hard, NICKMERCS implies that he doesn’t feel bad for those players struggling, except for those who are “playing solo.”

The popular Twitch streamer says “the only things I feel bad about is if you’re playing solo and you don’t have a team, I think it’s really tough right now and I think that they [the devs] do need to make changes. I don’t know what the changes are, but they do need to make changes.”

Ultimately, NICKMERCS feels the devs need to make changes to the current rank system for these solo players, as it’s “miserable, it’s so hard to play.” At the same time, he does question why these solo players don’t have a team:

“Why are you playing solo? I have questions man, every f****** shooter I’ve ever played in my life since I was twelve years old I’ve had good teammates. The f*** are you doing playing solo?”

Clearly, NICKMERCS feels that those playing solo should rethink and try and find a team to have a better experience for the time being. However, he also feels that changes need to be made to accommodate those who play solo, as there will definitely be legitimate reasons.
